From experience, I’ve found it’s much better to choose one viewing location early rather than constantly trying to move with the crowd.
Aim to arrive at least 45–60 minutes before the parade starts. A comfortable viewing position is worth far more than trying to squeeze into the front after the crowds arrive.

Moomba Masters Water Skiing
The Moomba Masters is one of the world’s longest-running international invitational water skiing tournaments. While many visitors come for the carnival atmosphere, the water skiing is genuinely world-class sport featuring elite international competitors.
Watching professional skiers navigate the Yarra River at high speed is something you simply don’t expect in the middle of Melbourne’s CBD.
It’s also one of the easiest events to watch casually because you can move along the river and find different viewing angles throughout the day.

The Birdman Rally

Public transport is by far the easiest way to reach Moomba. The festival precinct sits in the heart of Melbourne beside Flinders Street Station and is served by dozens of tram, train and bus services.
Driving is possible, but unless you’re arriving very early, traffic congestion and expensive parking often outweigh any convenience.
